Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick in 'Nude-ist' - £8.99 |
I had been in the market for a matte nude-y pink lipstick for a while and after hearing so many rave reviews about the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks I was eagerly awaiting the release of their most muted shade, Nude-ist. Despite the name it's not actually nude at all and when I told someone the name of the shade they actually laughed out loud at how inaccurate it was! Aside from the misleading name I love this and it's become a firm favourite in my makeup rotation.
It has a pretty thick texture which applies really comfortably, with no pulling or tugging of the lips. On application the first thing I noticed was the horrible smell. It's not a breaking factor for the product but I have to say that it is something which makes it slightly unpleasant, however it does seem to subside after a while. The brush is a bit too big, meaning that it's hard to apply very precisely, especially around the cupid's bow.
Aside from difficulties with application, I really love this product! Once it's set it doesn't budge for a good 4-5 hours before topping up is required. The wear is really comfortable and it doesn't feel all that drying on the lips - although I would definitely recommend wearing lip balm beforehand.
I'm amazed at how great this product is at such an affordable price and I would really recommend checking out the range. They have loads of great bright colours but I wish they would extend their range to more neutral, pinky colours, which I would definitely invest in. For under £10 I would urge you to go and pick them up!
I definitely want to try this shade out. Thanks for the honest review.
